In February 2013 the Advertising Standards Authority issued four adjudications against ticket sellers regarding how prices are displayed online. All advertisers have a responsibility to ensure that they meet the requirements of the CAP Code and CAP have produced a Help Note on ticket pricing which can be downloaded using the link below.
This page is intended as a simple resource for STAR members, to bring together information that helps those in the business of selling tickets for entertainment events ensure they are able to meet the requirements.
The issue of advertising prices is not to be confused with the Payment Surcharge Regulations which affect extra charges that can be made in respect of particular methods of payments – for instance charging an additional fee for processing a card payment.
The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 takes specific action on ‘drip pricing’ and requires up front pricing to be inclusive of all fees, taxes and other charges.
